The story begins with a confrontation that sets the tone for everything that follows. The Demon Prince, who has spent two decades waiting for the consort promised by prophecy, is not willing to let her go. He is possessive, overprotective, and genuinely confused by her attempts to explain the misunderstanding. As she navigates the deadly politics of the demon realm, she discovers that the "villain" the world fears is, beneath the terrifying reputation, a lonely man who has been waiting for someone to choose him. The question is whether she can survive long enough to decide if choosing him is worth the danger.
