Theo Roost wakes up in the world of his favorite game, but there is one fatal problem: the hero, Ahlia, never appears. Without a savior, the game's world is doomed to fall to the forces of darkness. The game's villainess, however, is very much alive -- and she is the only person who seems to notice that the world is ending. Theo's last wish is simple: open a restaurant. In a world falling apart, the absurdity of this goal is matched only by its sincerity. He does not want to be a hero. He does not want to save the world. He wants to cook good food and share it with people who need comfort. The villainess, intrigued by the one man who is not trying to kill her or recruit her, becomes his unlikely business partner. As the restaurant grows from a desperate dream into a community gathering place, it becomes a beacon of hope in a world without its hero. The villainess discovers that the warmth of a good meal and the company of someone who sees her as a person rather than a villain heals wounds that power never could. Theo's last wish may not save the world, but it saves the people in it -- and sometimes that is enough.
