Chapter 71: Chapter 70

I responded with a curt "yes," then hung up and sent my location to Jones five minutes later, a black Benz pulled up by the road. Jones wasn’t one to chase the high life. Also, being a doctor now, driving a flashy car to work seemed a bit off. But with this guy, even if he were to ride the most ordinary bicycle, he could still attract a lot of female attention. "Get in, Jones rolled down the window and told me. "Where to?" I was a bit clueless. "To pick up Bonny from your home." He was always worried about his pet. I smirked a little, opened the passenger door and hopped in. Jones glanced at me, "Seatbelt." I silently buckled up. Due to the snowy weather, the roads were slippery and we were driving slow. I was gazing out the window, but my mind was replaying the scene of Damon and Ariel in the snow. On the road, Jones broke the silence, "Ariel and the rest have applied for a ward change." "I know." I didn’t want to talk about Damon and Ariel at the moment, even though they were all I could think about. "I’ll be the one performing Ariel’s dad’s surgery, " Jones said. If he were to be a spy, he would definitely be top-notch. I grabbed my phone and transferred him some money. After seeing his phone light up, he looked confused, "What’s this about?" I deliberately let out a sly smile, "Dr. Jones, could you do me a favor when you operate on Ariel’s dad? If successful, I’ll send you a pretty penny!" Just then, the traffic light turned red. The car came to a stop. Jones grabbed his phone, quickly refunding my transfer and then scolded me seriously, "Stop watching those overly dramatic TV shows! What are you thinking?"

"How do you know my idea came from a TV show?" I asked, surprised. "What else?" Jones looked at me as if I were an idiot. I snorted coldly and ignored him. When we got back to Starlight Estates, Bonny saw his master return and happily jumped into Jones’s arms, purring in delight.- The housekeepers had taken good care of him in the past few days. He seemed to be in good spirits. Jones was holding Bonny and petting its head, ready to say something to me when we heard a man’s voice from upstairs. Damon was home. I didn’t want to see Damon, so I left Jones and went upstairs. As for what those two men talked about in the living room, I had no idea. They were old pals, so catching up shouldn’t have been awkward. In the spacious master bedroom, I tossed and turned in bed. On one hand, Damon and Ariel’s affair was bothering me, on the other hand, I was worried about Monica. Then Luna sent me a message, "Eliana, Monica is about to take the bait!" I was startled and quickly replied, "So soon? How did you manage that?" Luna sent a "smug" gif and replied, "Hehe, I’ll tell you in a couple of days. Wait for my good news." She stopped replying after that, as if she was really planning something big to surprise me. I didn’t ask anymore. Luna might be impulsive, but she was smart. I wasn’t sure if the private investigator I hired had started working yet. I opened my email inbox and there was no reply from the detective. Instead, there was a blocked message. I clicked to view it. Among the seven or eight blocked unread messages, there was one from an unfamiliar number. After reading the content, I found out it was from Nicholas. I didn’t expect him to still keep in touch. The latest message was sent this afternoon. I hesitated for a moment and decided to call him. He picked up quickly. "Hello? Is this Ms. Eli? Nicholas’s voice was quite pleasant, very gentle, and he spoke politely.
