I was relieved to see Sofia’s sanity and clarity, but my heart ached for her immensely. Any words of comfort seemed feeble. All I could do was to make Ian pay for his actions. After a moment of silence, Sofia said, "Since he’s betrayed me, there’s nothing left for me to cling onto. Tell me what to do, Eliana, and I’ll do it." Sofia and I had a chat in the ward. I learned more about Ian. Ian was not from a wealthy family. He was born in a small village, but he was a hard working and bright kid, which led him to a good university. After graduating, he got a job at his current company, and there was a good chance he was about to get promoted. For Ian, his job was crucial, the cornerstone of his life in Rosemont. If he lost his job, he might never find such a good one again. Sofia also told me that Ian’s parents were only in their fifties, but they had already retired, completely relying on Ian for support. Sofia never cared about these things. She didn’t lack money and didn’t mind helping her future parents-in-law financially. Just as we finished talking. Luna and the others came back with Sofia’s mom. "Mom!" Seeing her mother, Sofia immediately burst into tears. Sofia’s mother rushed over to her, her eyes filled with concern and love.
