Chapter 48: Chapter 48
We needed to find a way to expose the real Ace. Delaying was not in our favor "We should tell her straight up. It’ll break her heart, but it’s better than letting her be fooled." Luna always took decisive action. Even if it might ruin her friendship with Sofia, she would do it without hesitation. I gave it some thought. At the moment, this seemed to be the best plan. I exchanged a glance with Clara, silently agreeing I spent a long time discussing Sofia’s situation with Luna. They didn’t leave until late into the night. Since I had overslept in the afternoon, I felt pretty energized at night, so I decided to watch a movie. While watching the movie, I remembered the phone call Ariel made to Damon today, and involuntarily took out my phone to check Joshua’s Facebook. Although Ariel and I were friends, I only have Joshua’s contact. I usually got updates on their relationship through Joshua’s Facebook posts. Joshua was the type who loved to post. He seemed eager to show off his girlfriend to the world. Joshua’s Facebook cover photo used to be a picture of him and Ariel, but now it’s a portrait of a basketball star, with a caption below: I wasn’t good enough. He hadn’t updated his status for quite a few days. I couldn’t help but sigh. Innocent campus romance eventually shattered under the pressure of reality. I sent Joshua a message. "Joshua, are you asleep?" Joshua didn’t reply until a while later, "No."
I asked again, "Are you and Ariel okay? Why did you change your Facebook cover photo?" Joshua replied quickly this time, "Eliana, we broke up." This was no different from my past life. Even with my involvement, I couldn’t prevent Joshua and Ariel’s breakup. It seemed that the progress of the main characters’ love story really wasn’t something we side characters could influence. Did Ariel Seek Damon today for comfort? Or was it about the relocation issue in her neighborhood? I really couldn’t think of any other possibilities. I started comforting Joshua, and asked him out for a meal the next few days. Joshua agreed, and told me he was going to bed. I replied, "Good night." Joshua, "Eliana, good night." From that night on, Damon didn’t come home for a week. I didn’t ask or think too much, but just dealt with Sofia’s situation with Luna and Clara. We were worried that Sofia would still be attached to Ace after knowing the truth. After all, Ace was usually good to her, and their relationship was deep rooted. If Ace apologized and begged for her forgiveness, she might soften. So, Luna made up an excuse to lure Sofia to her house. Naturally, Clara and I were there too. "What are you guys up to?" Sofia was a little confused when she saw our serious faces. "Sofia, have you heard the phrase ’there are plenty of fish in the sea’?" Luna started. Sofia seemed confused, "I’ve heard of it, but does it have any special meaning?" I said, "Sofia, we’re your best friends. We’re like your family. Do you trust us? No matter what difficulties you encounter, we’ll support you!" Clara nodded, "Yes, we would never harm you!" Sofia seemed to sense something bad was about to happen, but she tried to stay calm and smiled, "What are you talking about? Of course, I know you wouldn’t hurt me. In my heart, you are my family." Luna and I exchanged a glance, then took out a phone, opened a video, and placed it in front of Sofia. Sofia focused on the video. Soon, her face turned pale. "Sofia... I felt sad. The truth was too cruel. All her fantasies about her happy married life shattered at this moment. Sofia suddenly stood up. She looked at us, opened her mouth to speak, but fainted before she could say anything. Luna reacted quickly and caught her, "Sofia!" Half an hour later, I was driving the car, with Luna and Clara supporting Sofia in the back, heading
