Chapter 28: Ashmark’s Militia
The training ground was not the same place it had been the first time Beorn had stood at its edge. The wild patches that once broke the field were gone. Use had worn them away. That told its own story.
The paths between the drill stations were no longer vague lines in the grass but hard-packed dirt, clearly shaped by repetition. Enough boots had followed the same routes that the ground seemed to remember where men were supposed to walk.
