Rin was only five years old when he realized the truth: he had been reborn inside an apocalypse novel. But he was not the protagonist, not even a side character. He was just an extra -- a background figure with no plot armor and no guaranteed survival. His only advantage is his childhood friend, the girl next door who, in the original novel, becomes one of the story's most terrifying yanderes. In the novel, the yandere childhood friend's obsession with the protagonist drives her to commit unspeakable acts. But Rin is not the protagonist, and his presence in her life from childhood changes the trajectory of her obsession. Instead of fixating on the novel's hero, she fixates on Rin -- the quiet boy who has been by her side since before the world ended. As the apocalypse begins and the yandere tendencies that defined her character in the novel manifest, Rin must navigate the impossible task of managing a yandere's affection while surviving the end of the world. His knowledge of the novel gives him advantages, but the changed target of the yandere's devotion creates consequences the original story never wrote. The extra who knew the plot discovers that rewriting even one character's obsession changes everything.
