Enraged, he pushed her under the water, not permitting her the slightest struggle. He watched as bubbles popped from her head, unmoved, a part of him wishing to end her right there.

Chenxing had never felt closer to death. The instinct to survive prompted her to struggle fiercely, to try and rise out of the water for oxygen. But his hand was as heavy as a thousand pounds. Amidst her desperate gasps, she gulped mouthfuls of water. The fear she felt in that moment was unprecedented.
