Chizuru Haibara stared distractedly at the computer screen on her desk. This was already the second time she'd had that dream—on that racetrack far harsher than reality, a blazing crimson streak racing through the curtain of rain had seared itself deeply into her mind.
Chizuru remembered the vow that girl had made to her in front of Kasamatsu Racecourse. She remembered how she had revitalized that once-fading local track, how she had defeated the demons in Chizuru's own dreams with miraculous strength, and how she had gently guided that shadowed course closer to a kinder reality.
