Kale’s eyes were blurry, his entire being in unfathomable pain, after the fucking priest had kicked him, throwing him like a worthless rag. He didn’t know what happened afterward; he probably lost consciousness. Right now, he could barely make out the vague silhouettes of the crying twins, continuously shaking him amid the rain.

But what truly made his eyes snap wide open was the mechanical voice, which, strangely, had the same tone as the AI he used most of the time in his research on the project back on Earth. For a moment, he thought if he was hallucinating, but the severe pain told him that it was unlikely.
