Chapter 199 - 199: Before the Storm of Iron

As the 15th of July rolled on, Germany's invasion unfolded in three great movements.

On the left flank, the Third Army poured into Luxembourg by rail, by truck, and by the sheer muscular labor of men and horses—occupying the small country without effort. From there the door opened north-west into southern Belgium, then on toward France.

In the center, the Second Army pushed through the Ardennes. Dense forest. Broken ground. Narrow roads that swallowed columns and made engines echo for miles. Slower than the flatlands, yes—but steady, purposeful, driving toward the fortress cities of Liège and Namur from below.
