Three days later, the storm had spent itself.
Northern Germany woke beneath a flawless autumn sky—crisp air carrying the scent of wet earth and fallen leaves, sunlight sharp and clean, cutting through the morning like polished glass. It was the kind of day that felt chosen, as if the season itself had decided that if men were going to challenge the sky, they would be given a fair stage.
