The slums of Jabia City was something else.
The despair of people on the streets begging. Waste that hadn’t been collected in weeks, stagnant water pooling in potholes, the greasy residue of cheap cooking oil clinging to crumbling walls. The buildings leaned against each other like drunkards, their walls patched with corrugated metal and stained fabric. Narrow alleys wound between them like veins, barely wide enough for two people to pass shoulder to shoulder.
Yenna stopped at the entrance to one such alley, her nose wrinkling.
