Chapter 93: Yan Cijin’s little trick 1.
"Let’s go quickly," she said. Yan Cijin finally came out of her brief daze after watching Bai Li fight. Seeing someone hold down a zombie with one foot while still killing it so cleanly was something only Bai Li could really do. It was terrifying and impressive at the same time. Just after the two of them left, Zhang Fan and Lin Da squeezed up to the door of the medical office. Through the glass window, they saw only two zombie corpses lying in the corridor. There was no sign of Bai Li or Yan Cijin anymore. Zhang Fan gritted his teeth and said, "Impossible. This is impossible." Lin Da, trying to sound joking even though he was nervous, said, "Brother, it seems Dr. Yan’s girlfriend is actually pretty capable." Zhang Fan snapped back, "What girlfriend? How could someone as aloof as Yan Cijin like her? She must have coerced Yan Cijin." His anger was obvious now, and he was clearly trying to force his own version of events onto everyone else. Seeing him so agitated, Lin Da quickly added, "Right, right, our hospital’s beauty queen isn’t so easy to win over." But just then, the door they had locked and blocked with furniture earlier suddenly shook hard from the outside. The banging was loud and violent, like something huge was trying to smash its way in. Lin Da, who had still been wrapped up in his own wild thoughts just a second ago, suddenly froze as he looked ahead with the others. The second he realized what was happening, fear almost knocked the breath right out of him. They were all so shocked that they could barely even speak. There were almost fifty more zombies right outside the door, and all of them were pounding at it wildly like crazy things that had lost every bit of reason. One after another, the blows kept coming, making the whole door tremble. The people inside went pale in an instant. Their mouths opened, but at first no words came out, only broken sounds of terror. Then all of them began crying out in panic, begging for help in voices that shook and cracked. Their faces twisted with fear, their hands trembled, and they started shouting over one another, trying to call for anyone, anyone at all, to save them. Some cried that the door would break, some cried that they did not want to die, and some screamed Yan Cijin’s name like that could magically bring her back. Their reactions were ugly and desperate, completely stripped of the confidence they had shown before. They had thought they were safe. They had thought Bai Li and Yan Cijin were the ones walking into death. Now the truth was right outside the door, and it was banging back at them with enough force to shake their whole world apart. What they did not know was that right before Bai Li and Yan Cijin had gone out, a purple wisp of smoke had seemed to come from the tip of Bai Li’s finger. It split apart into many smaller wisps, and those wisps spread everywhere, both inside the room and out into the area beyond the door. Yan Cijin obviously would not let these bastards live. Not only because of what they had tried to do to her in her previous life, but also because even in this life they had tried to harm her and Bai Li. The purple smoke was something that made zombies go crazy and run toward wherever it drifted, like a bunch of wild monsters on some kind of awful drug. And now that more than fifty zombies were slamming themselves against the door all at once, it was only a matter of time before they broke in. The fate waiting for those people inside was not going to be good at all. But Yan Cijin would not care about them. Not after everything they had done, and not after the way they had already chosen their side.
