Chapter 5: A Week of Recovery
For the first time, he truly understood. This village was poor and starving. If he ate all of this, would that boy even have dinner tonight? With the little strength he had, he broke the bread in half and held one piece out toward him. "Here, let’s share it together. I’m not that hungry."
After all, he too had once known starvation, and even in his weakened state, he could still spare a little for someone else.
