It was tonight. Iris was probably with them now, mating with them, letting them mark her. The thought alone made my chest tighten, a restless energy coiling inside me I couldn’t bear. I paced the length of my room. The air felt suffocating, and my hands twitched at my sides, itching to do something, anything, to quiet the storm in my head. I stopped by the window, staring out into the dark forest, where the moonlight barely touched the treetops. My reflection from the glass window stared back at me, disheveled dark hair, eyes filled with something I didn’t want to name.
