My lips curved into a slow smile, and hers did the same. It was good to see her again. The sight of Iris, standing at the window above, sent a wave of warmth through me, easing the tension that had knotted my shoulders and coiled in my chest for some moments ago. For some reason, it made a flicker of something that made my heart stutter. I hadn’t expected it, this sudden rush of relief, this uncalled-for happiness that surged through me just from seeing her. For a moment, the world felt like it was just the both of us, our eyes not tearing away from each other.
