Ellen’s heart raced at Mason’s question, his boldness totally caught her off guard. Her cheeks flushed a deep shade of pink as she quickly shifted away from him, creating a small gap between their bodies. She pressed herself into the corner of the chair, her mind racing as she tried to process what had just happened.
Her usual composure faltered as she stammered, trying to find the right words. "I-I don’t... I mean... what are you even..." Her voice trailed off, her embarrassment growing as she turned her face away, avoiding his gaze. She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks, her flustered state making it impossible to think clearly. The realization that Mason was teasing her only made her grumpier, her lips pressing into a pout.
