Time slipped away. When the lights went out, a darkness so tangible it felt solid plunged the room into an artificial night.
Qi Si curled up under the blankets, silently counting the seconds.
Another two hours passed. Judging it was deep into the night, he slipped out of bed. He stuffed a pillow under the sheet and arranged the corners of the blanket to create the convincing shape of a person sleeping beneath.
