He found Paris in the guest quarters.
Not asleep — Paris was not, apparently, someone who slept past the first hour of real light — but in the specific state of restful inactivity that Paris seemed to reach naturally in the mornings, sitting cross-legged on his sleeping mat with a cup of something warm and the unfocused expression of a man whose thoughts were somewhere pleasant.
