For several long seconds after Damon opened the bathroom door, the air inside the small tiled room seemed to freeze in place, thick with an awkward tension that neither of them quite knew how to address.

The maid was bent forward awkwardly beneath the sink, her upper body half inside the narrow cabinet as she struggled with something that had apparently fallen deep inside. In the process of reaching for it, she had managed to wedge herself between the pipes and the wooden frame so firmly that she could no longer pull herself back out.
