The message from Elara arrived at eleven-forty-three on a Tuesday night.

Not through the secure inbox. Through a separate channel, one I had not known existed until the notification appeared on the clean device, routed through a protocol I recognized as my father’s design, a system he had built for asynchronous communication between parties who could not risk a shared platform. The message itself was three lines of text and a file attachment.
